Timing Pulleys with Inch-bores and ANSI Keyways

 Permanent link

MISUMI now offers inch-size bore holes and ANSI keyways for many of our metric catalog timing pulleys. Included are MXL, XL, L and H types, as well as S1M, S3M, S5M, S8M, T and AT types.

When choosing an inch size, simply select the bore spec (HU for inch round hole, PU for inch round hole + tap, or NU for inch ANSI key groove hole + tap) and follow it with the inch hole spec (A through S = 1/8" through 1").

For example, in the part #ATP11XL037-B-NUF,  "NUF" specifies an inch ANSI key groove + tap with a 1/1" bore. Note that the set screws are still metric. Remember to check the catalog page to determine size availability.

Selectable and Customizable Washers, Spacers and Collars

MISUMI is now offering the largest variety of precision washers, spacers and collars to date. This unprecedented variety in materials and surface treatments is leading to alternative and interchangeable usages. You can choose from 9 different metals and 4 different surface treatments. 10 different resin materials are available as well.

Precision washers are surface finished up to an Ra of 1.6µ, offering an extremely smooth surface and high precision thickness. Tight machining tolerances combined with a wide range of thicknesses and lengths allow engineers to use washers as spacers and spacers as collars.

In addition, our collars have new alterations available for increased configurability. Inner and outer diameter tolerances can be improved up to H7. Chamfering and tapering can be cut at 15, 10,30, 45 and 60 degree angles. Set screw holes can be added at specific positions. Inner diameter coarse and fine tapping are new options. A lengthwise slit can be applied for tough fitting situations.

Guide mechanism design options on XYZ positioning stages

MISUMI XYZ positioning stages are offered with different guide mechanisms:

DOVETAIL

Stage motion is achieved by sliding male and female trapezoidal grooves. Straightness of dovetail mechanism is 30µ for high precision stages and 50µ for standard positioning stages.

CROSS ROLLER

Caged cylindrical rollers are placed between two V-groove rails. Rolling motion of rollers allow for very smooth and accurate motion. Straightness of units using cross roller guides are 3µ for high precision stages and 30µ for standard positioning stages.

LINEAR BALLS

Caged steel balls roll between two (gothic) arch grooves. Grooves are machined on the body of the stage itself. This allows for more compact (low) stage profile. At the same time, steel balls have 4-point contact with raceway (grooves), resulting in a more rigid structure. Load capacity is higher than with cross roller stages. Straightness accuracy of these units is 1µm.
