Ball Screw Lubrication

(Frequently Asked Questions) Permanent link

To extend a Ball Screw's life, it is highly recommended that you reapply grease to them periodically unless the application requirements prohibit any kind of lubricants.  Lubricant reduces metal to metal contact and also minimizes retainer wear by lowering friction.  Grease should be periodically reapplied, depending on the operating conditions.

Misumi recommends lubrication intervals of every 6 months for normal conditions and every 3 months under severe conditions (high speed, high load etc…).

Our ball screws are packed with lithium based soap grease, the Misumi grease part number is: GAV1.  For special greases go to our blog titled: “Greases for special environments”.
