MISUMI USA starts full e-commerce services
Misumi has made it easier than ever before to procure custom components.
Now on
www.misumiusa.com, you can search,
configure and order custom components, all with just a few keystrokes. This new
feature greatly enhances our ability to ship custom components to you quickly and
efficiently.
Fulfilling our Customers' Needs
Misumi Custom Mechanical Components for Assembly Automation, Inch and Metric Catalogs
contain over 180,000 "types" of products. Many of them are configurable to match
your exact specification.
This enables users to order parts without a drawing, and use them as soon as they
arrive, without additional machining. But some customers told us that the offering
is so extensive, and the catalog so huge, that sometimes it was quite difficult
to find things.
New Web capabilities - Easy Searching
Our new website allows various search capabilities. Search by product category,
by the application that you intend to use it in, or by keywords.
But we realize that finding the correct product takes more than that. Once you have
narrowed down the search and found the approximate shape of what you want, take
a look at our detail pages. You'll find material, surface treatment, and hardness
data plus schematics and tables showing all of the dimensions you can choose from.
Many will have alteration options available too. You can even check if the product
is RoHS compliant.
Easy Configuring
If the product seems right, you can start configuring. The Misumi website will allow
you to configure the part online. Select the dimensions as needed, and click generate.
The part number will be generated, and the price and production times will be shown.
Production time is how many days it takes to manufacture or machine the part, and
ship from our warehouse in Elk Grove Village, IL. Pricing shown initially is standard
pricing. For order quantities of 5 or more, most products will have pre-set volume
discount rates. If you'd like to know exactly how much discount you will get, drop
it in the shopping cart and request a quote. But before you go on, don't forget
that you can also download the 3D CAD file.
Easy Ordering
In the past Misumi has required customers to open a corporate account. This involved
a credit check of your company, and required some time. This may have been an obstacle
for first time users. Now, the Misumi website offers a quick and easy way to get
started. Just use your credit card.
Once the part number is generated, and saved in a shopping cart, you are ready to
request a quotation. A quotation will provide exact pricing, and accurate timing
for shipping the parts out.
Confirm the results, and when you are ready to order, just input your shipping and
credit card information. You can also come directly to this quotation/ordering screen
if you already know your part number, or have saved information in the past.
Other Features
Besides basic capabilities, we have solved some issues that many of our customers
have.
- User Login: Your ordering information is saved, so that if you need to order
again, your don't have to re-type everything.
- CAD: If you just need the CAD file, and ordering is someone else's job, then
click our CAD links. You can download CAD files in just about any native CAD format.
- Express Service: Misumi offers Express production services for an additional
cost. For example, a precision linear shaft with both ends tapped, can be shipped
out the same day, for an additional charge of $16. Available express options are
shown simultaneously with standard pricing, as soon as you generate a part.
- History: Do you need to re-order the same part again, or order a part that
you decided to postpone during a previous project? Retrieve your quotation and order
history. You don't need to look for it again in the catalog.
These services are the first of Misumi's global initiatives to providing full-scale
e-commerce capabilities to our customers worldwide.
