The MISUMI Voice in Action

In this issue, we interviewed a customer of ours who uses MISUMI products in China, about the benefits of using Misumi.

What kind of products do you manufacture at your company? And for what part do you use Misumi products?

"We produce cell phones as an OEM. In our Equipment Section, we design and manufacture in-company equipment and jigs. We use Misumi components in these pieces of special purpose equipment."

How did you start using Misumi?

"Two years ago, a salesperson from Misumi visited us. A sister company of our group in China told us that they were already using Misumi components. That gave us the impression that Misumi products are reliable. Today, we purchase all the mechanical element components such as precision linear shafts, linear bushings, slide guides, ball screws and timing pulleys if they are in the catalogue. We only need to create drawings and outsource those special components that are not listed in the catalogue."

What is the advantage of using Misumi products?

"The production time of Misumi is short and exact. They deliver their products exactly on the schedule that is written on the order sheets. That makes it easier for us to make production plans. The product quality is reliable as well. Every month, several new types of cell phones come on the market. As the requests for faster production time get shorter and tougher every year, faster speed is required for facility designs. For some phone types, we are expected to finish jig design in only one to two weeks."

Please share with us a concrete example of the benefit of using Misumi.

"If we look at the production time, we have seen a 20% reduction in the number of processes. For standard components selected from the catalogue, we do not need to create drawings as Misumi offers 3D CAD data of them.

The designers can concentrate and use their time for designing more important components other than standard ones. The result of this is that for example, jig design time has been shortened from 10 days to just 8 days."

Do you have any request for Misumi?

"Sometimes the production time takes longer than the number of days written in the catalogue when order volume is large. Higher capacity for production time of large volume orders is needed. Although, I must point out the delivery schedule has never been delayed once the order has been confirmed.

Six months ago, there was a situation when some trouble occurred with an important component. However, in this case, a technical expert from Misumi did visit to us and solved the problem.

Also, we would appreciate it if a Misumi technical expert could introduce effective application examples of standard components to our designers.
