What is RoHS?

leaf
The "Directive 2002 / 95 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment" is better known as the RoHS directive. This Directive bans new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, Chromium VI (hexavalent chromium,) polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants, from the European market.

Manufacturers worldwide who wish to market their products in Europe, need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive and ensure that their products, and their components comply.

Misumi provides compliance information for all its products. Currently 97% of our products are confirmed compliant, and we are working toward replacing the few that are still non-compliant. All of our future catalogs will display compliancy information for every part number. Please be sure you request a free copy of our latest catalog. Compliance specifications are continuously being reviewed by the European Commission as well. Therefore, they may change. Misumi will continue to provide the most up-to-date information on the global website (efa.misumi.jp) as well as the US website (www.misumiusa.com)

The RoHS Directive's scope is originally for consumer electronics, and does not require industrial or proprietary manufacturing equipment to meet these targets. But many companies are proactively setting their internal purchasing standards to comply, not only in Europe, but all over the world. Misumi ensures that regardless of where you market your products, we will provide the latest compliance information to support you.The "Directive 2002 / 95 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment" is better known as the RoHS directive.
